Bluegrass Drive By is an all-star group of some of Santa Cruz's great professional bluegrass musicians having fun together. These are guys who have been in many bands for many years, making great music. The Bluegrass Drive By lineup this Saturday at Lulu's will include:
Legendary local banjo picker Dave (Mr. Banjo) Guarente on banjo. Dave's current projects include the traditional bluegrass band the True Life Troubadours, acoustic Bluegrass classic rock band “The Jedd Brothers“, the 1930’s style string band “Earthquake Country“, as well as the traditional bluegrass band “Carolina Special “ with longtime California bluegrass fixture Ed Neff.
Bob Smith on guitar. Bob is the guitar player for the Truelife Troubadors. His long career in bluegrass has included playing for Sweetwater, Sidesaddle & Co., Ron Spears and Within Tradition, his own band Roanoke, and legends such as Tony Rice and Darol Anger.
Suzanne Suwanda on bass. Suzanne is a veteran player who is the bassist for Carolina Special and has been with various other bands such as the Lampel Brothers, Ed Neff and friends, Rick Ednie's Bluegrass Roundup and a host of local bands.
A few other friends may stop by to join in the fun.
