"As I painted imaginary lines in the air when describing my work to a gallery owner, his eyes lit up and he said, "I like the way you move your arms! It's the movement!" The movement of line, we concluded, was what I really loved in art. I've always loved dancing and skating and I still practice ballet regularly. I enjoy seeing and feeling the graceful movement. And color serves painting in a similar way music serves dance. They help to set the mood. I enjoy many forms of expression but when I was nineteen I made a choice to become a painter. I saw that it was something I could do forever and enjoy the rewards of its practice even into my old age. So far, it's true!"
